Dictated voice files, identified by physician, patient and work type, are uploaded to a workstation and from there to a speech recognition server, which recognizes the voice files with reference to the physician’s voice characteristics and medical-specialty vocabulary. The resultant recognized text, voice files and template for the work type may be routed automatically either to the physician or to a transcription service for possible correction. After correction the physician may sign his transcribed reports, print them and route them. Aurator Transcription administrative functions control access to reports, report the status of dictation jobs, assist in routing correction jobs to appropriate transcriptionists, and provide for listing, selecting and viewing patient reports. The product’s auto-adaptation feature customizes each physician’s personal vocabulary and thereby continually improves recognition accuracy.

Physicians are trained to dictate clearly and distinctly, to speak basic commands and to use the recording device; then they are trained to use report templates and navigation commands.

Aurator Transcription is offered both as an Intranet-based product for large hospitals and clinics, and as an Internet-based service for smaller medical organizations and independent physicians who don’t have the technical staff required to support the product or who prefer to pay as they use it. Aurator Transcription is a flexible solution as it can be hosted or supported on premise.
